A RENAISSANCE MAN

Xavier Alexander Hendon, aka Bro. CODEX, is a native of Jacksonville, Florida who relocated to Virginia Beach, Virginia in 2006. He was raised in a Christian home with military parents and his little brother. He found his love for music in the church while being a part of the children’s choir and praise step team. His father, Minister Andrew Hendon III, was one of the choir’s co-directors and mother, Minister Jessica S. Hendon, a choreographer and dancer on the adult praise team. They were both big influences in Xavier’s upbringing and journey to Christ, art, and ministry through education. 

Xavier is a well accomplished performer and musician since 2006, having performed for notable artists and groups such as Chris Brown, Ashanti, Rakim, Chloe Royale, MBM Entertainment, L-Stringz Entertainment, the Howard University SHOWTIME Marching Band, Drew Hall Step Team, KAOSS EKLIPSE Entertainers, Step Afrika, the Norfolk State University Spartan Legion Marching Band, Fortresses, Thee Phantom and The Illharmonic Orchestra, and many more. He started arranging music in 2013 has only been seriously composing since 2019 in response to a positive experience in a private lesson offered by contemporary composer and music educator, Professor of Music Dr. Anne Neikirk at Norfolk State University (NSU) in Norfolk, Virginia. 

In 2021, Mr. Hendon earned his Bachelor of Music Education from Norfolk State University (NSU) and began his career as a licensed music educator. Prior to this, Xavier taught art and performing arts at the Boys & Girls Club of America, lead the DIzzy Orchestra of Heart Valves Program through the Salvation Army, taught private lessons at Ego Music, Music & Arts, and Guitar Center, and substitute taught for Virginia Beach Public Schools. He became the long-term substitute and eventual full-time General Music Specialist at Rosemont Elementary School of Virginia Beach, VA. 

In 2024 he graduated with a Master of Music in Theory & Composition from Norfolk State University. He is the founder and CEO of That’s Good Entertainment LLC, formerly known as Anubis Entertainment Associations LLC, a multimedia holding company for affiliated music industry businesses, itsCODEX Studios LLC, a platform for booking inquiries for various production, performance, and educational needs, and founder of Oxúm Productions LLC, a Black-owned music publishing company and recording label specializing in providing a platform for underrepresented artists and composers of color by promoting accessible music education and community development.
